November sales

Many sales will punctuate the month of November 2022 at Sotheby's.

First of all, from November 3 to 8, the Asian art department will honor Vietnamese art, with in particular two paintings by the painter Vu Cao Dam, and sculptures, mother-of-pearl objects... as well as the arts Chinese, Indian and Himalayan.

As part of the Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300 - 1900 sale which will be held from November 4 to 10, there are more than a hundred works covering 600 years of art history, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, which will be showcased at the auction house. Among the artists who will be represented, we find Rosa Bonheur, Delville, Périclès Pantazis or Boleslaw Biegas.

Until November 10, Sotheby's presents an exhibition of private sales in a new gallery located on Place Beauvau. Exceptional works by Picasso and Jean Dubuffet will accompany an exhibition by New York artist Noël W. Anderson.

Until November 16, Sotheby's is organizing a sale of 20th and 21st century photographs. The first 100 lots come from the collection of shoe designer Ernesto Esposito, which includes photos of Cindy Sherman, Helmut Newton… The second part of this sale is devoted to masters of photography from the beginning and middle of the 20th century, such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Man Ray, and more contemporary photographers like Daido Moriyama.

“Precious bindings from the 16th to the 20th century from the collection of a couple of bibliophiles” will be held from 10 to 17 November. This is the collection of a Franco-American couple who have invested body and soul in the creation of a bookbinding art library. Very diverse works, from French, Italian and English workshops, in morocco leather, vellum, wood or polycarbonate, decorated with a mosaic decoration, fine gold, embroidered, in Japanese leather paper, covered with coats of arms or Masonic emblems will be offered.

Finally, this month rich in various exhibitions will end with a sale of impressionist and modern art on 25 November. Among the works on offer are those by Eugène Boudin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Picasso, ceramics by Jean Cocteau, paintings by Picabia, Chagall, Utrillo, Marie Laurencin and Modigliani.
