Another look: Edric Van Vredenburgh Collection, part 1
SOTHEBY'S
On April 13, 2022, Sotheby's presents in Paris the sale of the personal collection of Edric van Vredenburgh which brings together a set of precious and original works.
From an early age, Edric was interested in phenomena and curious things in nature thanks to his father who took him to the British Museum. Growing up, his taste incline towards the decorative arts and the origin of objects, their history and the cultural context in which they were created.
This sale presents pieces acquired around the world in recent years. From an exceptional group of hard stone carvings, porphyry vases and mortars, an Italian relief of a lion in Porto Santo marble, extraordinary Alaskan objects and headrests from Central and South Africa, to Japanese Jumonji spears from the Edo period, clubs from Melanesia and Polynesia, an incredible Mughal marquetry box and a magnificent Hawaiian lei niho necklace from the Nathaniel Bright Emerson Collection, the van Vredenburgh Collection offers a breath-taking journey through time and civilizations, providing collectors with a rich array of examples of the creations of man, nature and time.
