The Macklowe collection
SOTHEBY'S
Last November, 35 works from the Macklowe collection were sold for $676,1 million, making this single-owner auction the most valuable ever staged. Next May 16, Sotheby’s will offer a further 30 works from this collection.
A number of leading names from the November sale return, such as Gerhard Richter and his extraordinary large-scale painting Seascape from 1975, Andy Warhol and his monumental self-portrait estimated $15-20 million, but also Mark Rothko and De Kooning. They will be joined by Jean Dubuffet and his Grand Nu Charbonneux, Giacometti, Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, and many others.
The Collection will be on view to the public in Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries from Tuesday February 22 until March 2, alongside preview exhibitions for the Modern & Contemporary and The Now evening auctions taking place in London on March 2. Highlights will also be exhibited in Palm Beach, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Shanghai before returning to New York for public exhibition ahead of the sale on May 16.
