Muse and still lives: more than $108 million for the Picasso auction organized in Las Vegas
LE FIGARO

Sotheby’s organized an auction at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas where eleven paintings by Picasso were for sale.
The most sought-after was the one called Femme au beret rouge-orange, one of the latest portraits of Marie-Thérèse Walter, Picasso’s muse and lover who remained his mistress until the Second World War. It was sold for $40.47 million.
Two other emblematic portraits done during the painter’s last years of life, Homme et enfant and Buste d’homme, were sold for $24.39 million and $9.45 million. These two pieces were presented during the exhibition of 1970 at Palais des Papes d’Avignon.
Ceramics, drawings and still lives were also sold during this auction that made $108.87 million (€93.5 million).
