The Lalanne Universe : Claude François-Xavier Lalanne Collection

On October 23 rd and 24 th a magnificent and truly exceptional sale featuring
pieces belonging to the renowned Lalanne couple took place at the Sotheby's
Paris auction house located at 76 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré facing the
Elysée Palace.

The sale was a resounding success with not only the highest price for a sale at
Sotheby's Paris but also record bids with 24 at over a million.

This unique event brought together works from Claude and François-Xavier
Lalanne's house-studio, and predictably the auction room was packed and
estimates significantly surpassed.

Sculptors and designers inspired by nature and the animal kingdom, the
legendary Lelanne couple are major players in the world of French art.
Internationally renowned, the husband and wife always exhibited together.
At the end of the auction, the highest bid had been for François-Xavier
Lalanne's monumental “Rhinocrétaire” dating from 1991 which sold for over 5
million euro.

A new record for Claude Lalanne was set with the sale of “Choupatte” (2012),
which sold for over 2 million euro.

A success worthy of this truly unique couple.
